Our regional library has nine branches and a Bookmobile serving the counties of Isle of Wight, Southampton, Surry, and Sussex, as well as the City of Franklin servicing 1,600 square miles. We provide library materials, the latest technologies we have available, and our motivated staff members provide library service and programming throughout the area.

Blackwater Regional Library offers benefits to Full-Time and Part-Time employees, including, but not limited to, annual leave and medical leave. Current Openings:

Branch Manager, Smithfield Branch 

Blackwater Regional Library is seeking a full-time Branch Manager (37.5 hours/week) for its Smithfield Branch in Isle of Wight County, VA. This position has a starting salary of $45,000, and is eligible for health insurance and enrollment in the Virginia Retirement System. Applications will be taken until June 20, 2025.

Senior Library Assistant, Outreach Services and Marketing Department

Who We Are: Blackwater Regional Library Outreach Services provides library materials, information, and resources directly to the community to reduce gaps in patron access and strengthen community connections. We prioritize communities with traditionally underserved populations, low-income level and high-risk factors, and physical barriers to library locations including distance and accessibility. We serve a large service area and are creative in finding ways to serve our community.

Who We Are Looking For: Blackwater Regional Library is looking for a part-time Senior Library Assistant in our Outreach Services and Marketing Department to assist in outreach planning and programming, foster new and existing partnerships, create marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, posters, banners, create marketing materials for social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, assist with our Library2Go services, and attend community events.

Details: Part-time position, 22.5 hours per week, schedule will vary and may include evenings and weekends, starting salary is $14.85. Position is based out of our Courtland Branch.
